Prior to joining the Sociology Department at Aston University, I taught at the University College London (School of Slavonic and East European Studies), the University of Liverpool (Department of History), Brunel University (Department of Politics and History), Westminster University (Area Studies Department), the University of Salford (Department of Politics and History), Roehampton University (Department of Media, Culture and Language), the University of Vienna (Department of Sociology) and the Russian State University for the Humanities, Moscow (Ancient Near Eastern Studies Department, Oriental Institute).

About Elisabeth Schimpfössl

My research focuses on elites, philanthropy and social inequality as well as questions around post-Socialist media and self-censorship. I did my PhD at the University of Manchester and taught at Liverpool University, Brunel and UCL before taking up my current post as Lecturer in Sociology and Policy at Aston University, Birmingham, UK. I live in London.
